Sensor Calibration and Testing

This page is used to test 8 Hall sensors in total: S1/S2 for the two motor channels and B1/B2/B3/B4 for the buffer. Multi-master slave systems without a buffer only need to test the 4 motor sensors, skipping B1-B4.

Power-Off Procedures

Before organizing the wiring harness, checking terminals, adjusting the buffer magnets, or reconnecting sensors, make sure to fully turn off the printer and disconnect the power supply. Do not plug or unplug the wiring harness, rearrange interface wires, or touch terminals while the device is powered on.

Preparations Before Calibration

  1. Remove all consumables from the two motor channels to ensure the motor sensors are free of material.
  2. Empty the buffer material path to prevent the buffer sensors from being triggered.
  3. Verify that the moving mechanisms are not pressed down and that the motor buttons cannot be accidentally activated.

Performing Calibration

  1. Turn on the power and check that all lights flash white, indicating that calibration has not yet begun.
  2. Press and hold the status button for about 2 seconds.
  3. Wait for the red, green, and blue light sequences to finish. Do not turn off the power or operate the motor during the light show.
  4. After the light sequence ends, the arrow button should show red; the status button will display red or green depending on the current mode.
  5. If there is material in the buffer or motor during calibration, the baseline values may be incorrect. Empty the material path and recalibrate.

Testing Motor Sensors

In load mode (status button red), test each of the two motor channels separately:

  1. Slowly insert consumables into the channel entrance to trigger S1 for that channel.
  2. The motor should start feeding material. Once the consumables reach the exit and trigger S2, the motor should retract slightly and stop.
  3. When S1 is triggered, the light for that channel should change from red to green; it should remain red if not triggered.
  4. Repeat the above steps for the second channel.

Power-Off Procedures

Before organizing or reconnecting sensor wiring harnesses, make sure to fully turn off the printer and disconnect the power supply.

If the motor does not move after inserting consumables and the channel light remains red, check S1 first. If the motor continues to feed material and push it out of the motor, check S2 first. After checking, turn off the power to organize or reconnect the wiring harness, then test again.

Testing Buffer Sensors

During testing, move the buffer only in small increments at low speeds. Keep fingers and tools away from the gripping points, feeding wheels, and motor. Stop testing immediately if any jamming or abnormal movement is detected, and check after turning off the power.

After confirming that the motor sensors are functioning properly, switch to automatic mode (status button green), then move the buffer mechanism in the following order:

Power-Off Procedures

Before adjusting magnet positions, sensor installation, or wiring harness terminals, make sure to fully turn off the printer and disconnect the power supply.

If material from the current channel has just left the motor and is still in the material path, but the next channel starts feeding material prematurely, causing a jam, it indicates an issue with the trigger position or input status of B1. Turn off the power to check the magnet position, sensor installation, and wiring harness terminals, then recalibrate.

Testing buttons will activate the motor. Keep the material path unobstructed during operation, and keep fingers and tools away from gripping points, feeding wheels, and the motor. Stop immediately if any jamming is detected, and check after turning off the power.

  1. Short press of the forward arrow: The light for the corresponding channel flashes yellow, and the motor moves forward.
  2. Short press of the backward arrow: The light for the corresponding channel flashes blue, and the motor moves backward.
  3. In automatic mode, pressing the working channel arrow should first switch the device to load mode, then execute the corresponding action.
  4. In pause/load mode, after the channel moves to the exit sensor and is triggered, the device will retract slightly and stop—this is a normal protective action.

Determining Test Completion

Only after all S1/S2 sensors in the channels, B1/B2/B3/B4 sensors in the buffer, and button actions meet the expected standards can the device be used officially. If the indicator lights flash purple or red rapidly, stop automatic material feeding and investigate the cause.
