Firmware Upgrade

After the FLY-USB-LCD7 is connected to a computer via USB, it will automatically be recognized as two USB mass storage devices (USB drive mode): FLY BOOT and FLY DATA. The screen has built-in A/B dual partitions. The upgrade process automatically switches partitions, and if the upgrade fails, it can automatically roll back.

Upgrade Steps​

  1. Connect the screen to the computer using a Type-C cable.

  2. The computer recognizes the two disks FLY BOOT and FLY DATA.

  3. Copy the upgrade package (such as ota.cpio) to the root directory of the FLY BOOT disk.

  4. Safely eject the FLY BOOT disk on the computer (safely remove hardware).

  5. After the screen detects the upgrade package, the Firmware upgrade page in the settings interface will display Firmware update found.

  6. Click Update now to start the upgrade.

  7. Wait for the upgrade to complete. The screen will automatically restart.

Power Disconnection Operation

Do not disconnect the Type-C connection or cut off the power during the upgrade process. A failed upgrade may cause the device to fail to start normally.

Windows File Extension Display

Windows may hide the extensions of known file types. Please ensure the file name is exactly ota.cpio, not ota.cpio.txt or another variant. Please check "File name extensions" in File Explorer to confirm.

Notes​

  • The upgrade package must be placed in the root directory of the FLY BOOT disk, not in a subfolder
  • After copying is complete, you must safely eject the disk on the computer before the screen can detect the file

FLY DATA User Files​

The FLY DATA disk is used to store user files, such as custom boot logo images.

  1. Connect the screen to the computer using a Type-C cable.
  2. The computer recognizes the FLY DATA disk.
  3. Copy the required files (such as the boot logo image) to the disk.
  4. Safely eject the FLY DATA disk on the computer.
  5. After the screen restarts, it will load the custom resources from FLY DATA.

Windows may hide the extensions of known file types. Please ensure the file name and extension are correct, for example boot_logo.jpg, not boot_logo.jpg.jpg.

Notes​

  • After operating on files in the FLY DATA disk on the computer, you must safely eject the disk before it can be used on the screen
  • Do not delete the README.TXT file in the disk. This file contains usage instructions.

View Firmware Version​

You can view the current firmware version on the About page in the settings interface:

  • Image version: Firmware image version
  • Current version: Current running version
