Usage Tutorial
This page introduces the daily usage flow of FLY Screen, suitable for native screen scenarios such as FLY-TFT and HDMI with FLY Screen enabled.
Enable Configuration: FLY Screen Enable Configuration
The interface text and button positions may vary slightly between different FlyOS-FAST or FlyScreen versions; please refer to the actual screen display.
Pre-Use Confirmation
- Power on the printer and wait for the host system to finish booting.
- If the screen displays KlipperScreen, confirm that
klipper_screenis disabled andfly_screenis enabled in the system configuration:

Main Interface Functions
Common entry points for FLY Screen are as follows:

Once printing starts, the interface switches to the print status page, allowing operations such as pause, resume, stop, print speed adjustment, Z offset adjustment, and object exclusion.
File List and Uploading Print Files
FLY Screen is primarily used for native screen operations; it is recommended to upload print files via a browser to Mainsail or Fluidd first.
- Access the printer's web page from a computer or mobile browser.
- Open the file management or G-code files page.
- Upload the
.gcodefile you wish to print. - After uploading, return to the FLY Screen file page and refresh the file list.
The file page reads the G-code list and thumbnails from Moonraker. If there are many files, large files, or numerous thumbnails, entering the file page for the first time may take a while; please wait for the list to load completely before selecting a file to print.

Starting a Print
- Navigate to the file page on the screen.
- Select the G-code file to print.
- Confirm the filename is correct and click the print or start button.
- Once printing starts, observe whether the nozzle and bed heat up normally, and wait for the machine to automatically execute the homing, leveling, preheating, and other processes defined in the sliced file.
Before starting a print, ensure there are no tools, debris, or other foreign objects on the build plate, and that the nozzle, bed, and moving parts have no obstructions around them.
Operations During Printing
During printing, you can view the current status on the screen and perform the following operations as needed:

The nozzle and bed are hot during printing. Do not touch the nozzle, bed surface, heater block, or extruding filament.

Temperature Control
The temperature page is typically used to view and set heater temperatures (nozzle, bed, etc.) and to adjust fan outputs (model fan, fan 1, fan 2, etc.).
- Enter the temperature page.
- Select the heater you wish to adjust.
- Enter or select the target temperature.
- Wait for the temperature to approach the target before loading filament, extruding, or printing.
Common temperature settings should follow the filament manufacturer's recommendations and slicer configurations. If the interface prompts for preheating, or if the temperature fails to rise, rises too slowly, or triggers a temperature protection error, stop printing and check the Klipper error messages.

Moving and Homing
The move page is typically used for homing, moving X/Y/Z axes, and adjusting nozzle position.
Before homing or moving, ensure there are no tools, fingers, tangled cables, or other obstacles within the movement range of the nozzle, platform, and axes.
- Enter the move page.
- Before moving for the first time, perform homing for the corresponding axis, or perform a full homing sequence as per the machine configuration.
- Use small step sizes to move axes, confirming the direction is correct before using larger steps.
- Use small step sizes when adjusting the Z axis to avoid the nozzle hitting the build plate.
If forced movement is required, only do so when you clearly understand the current machine coordinate status and associated risks. Normal homing, debugging, and printing workflows should not rely on forced movement.
If homing times out, limit switches are abnormal, or movement direction is incorrect, stop all operations and check the configuration and error messages first.

Filament Operations
The filament page is typically used for loading, unloading, or manually extruding filament.
- Heat the nozzle to the appropriate temperature for the current filament.
- Wait for the temperature to stabilize before performing feeding, retraction, or extrusion.
- Operate in small, incremental steps, observing whether the filament extrudes smoothly from the nozzle.
- After finishing, clean any residual material from around the nozzle to avoid affecting the next print.
Do not force extrusion or retraction when the nozzle is not heated. If extrusion is not possible, first check the nozzle temperature, filament path, and extruder status.
Tools and Calibration
The tools page contains calibration-related entry points. The actual available items depend on the current Klipper configuration; common items include:

Nozzle diameter and filament diameter can be modified on the screen in the tools page; changes are automatically saved to the configuration. This auto-save feature requires FlyOS-FAST's built-in Klipper. These values affect calibration or calculation results, so please fill in according to the actual installed nozzle and filament specifications. Common filament diameter is 1.75 mm; nozzle diameter depends on the machine's actual nozzle.
Before calibration, ensure the machine structure, probe, bed, nozzle, and filament are in normal condition. The machine may automatically move or restart during calibration; do not touch moving or hot components.
If the calibration page prompts messages like "Please home first," "Please heat first," "Probe triggered early," or "Probe is still triggered," handle these prompts first and do not force subsequent calibration steps.
Settings and About
The settings page includes the following entry points:

Operations like restarting firmware, restarting the system, shutting down the system, or deleting all files can affect current prints or file data. Ensure no print jobs are running and carefully confirm dialog prompts before executing.

Power Loss Resume
If the system detects an unfinished task, the interface may display power loss resume entry points, allowing you to clear the record or follow a wizard to resume printing. Common steps include moving to Z0, moving to the model height, continuing printing, printing the upper portion, specifying a height, or manual movement.
Before resuming after a power loss, ensure the model is still firmly attached to the platform, there is no large debris around the nozzle, and the movement paths of the platform and nozzle are clear. If the model has come loose or shifted position, do not attempt to resume the print.
Power loss resume depends on system and slicer file cooperation. Follow the on-screen prompts step by step before resuming, and do not skip the height confirmation steps.
Common Issues
Screen does not enter FLY Screen
Please first confirm the system configuration is:
klipper_screen=0
fly_screen=1
Save the configuration and restart the system. If KlipperScreen is still displayed, return to the enable configuration page to check if the configuration items were written correctly.
Newly uploaded files not visible in the file list
- Confirm the files were uploaded to the printer's G-code file directory.
- Confirm the file extension is
.gcode. - If there are many files, first wait for the file list and thumbnails to finish loading.
- Return to the file page and refresh the list, or re-enter the file page.
- If still not visible, check via a browser whether the files can be seen in Mainsail or Fluidd.
Machine does not respond after clicking print
- Confirm that Klipper, Moonraker, and the screen service are running normally.
- Check the browser page for any Klipper errors.
- Refer to the FAQ documentation for troubleshooting based on the complete error message.

Fan, LED, or Object Exclusion unavailable
Some buttons depend on corresponding features in the Klipper configuration. If the screen prompts "Please define fan 1," "Please define fan 2," "Please define LED," or the object exclusion button is unavailable, first confirm whether the corresponding fan, LED, or object exclusion features are defined in your configuration.
