Serial Screen Usage

This page explains how to use the Fly-WiScreen 5-inch screen in daily operation after flashing the serial firmware. The usage tutorial for the serial screen of the WiScreen 5-inch and WiScreen 7-inch screens is nearly identical, with the main differences being screen size, image resource specifications, and minor layout variations.

In serial mode, WiScreen communicates with FlyOS-FAST or a host computer running Moon2Uart via moon2uart, and does not use the fly_screen switch. fly_screen is a native screen display service within FlyOS-FAST, intended for native display scenarios such as FLY-TFT and HDMI.

FLY Screen Usage Tutorial: Usage Tutorial

Relationship Between Usage Tutorials

The file list, printing status, movement temperature, tool calibration, settings, and power-loss resume pages of the WiScreen serial firmware are largely consistent with the daily usage flow of FLY Screen. When reading the FLY Screen usage tutorial above, only refer to the screen operation steps; do not apply the klipper_screen=0 or fly_screen=1 configuration settings to the WiScreen serial screen.

Pre-Use Confirmation

  1. The screen has been flashed with the Fly-WiScreen 5-inch serial firmware.
  2. The host computer is running FlyOS-FAST, or has Moon2Uart-related services installed and enabled.
  3. The screen can properly enter the main interface and read printer status, temperature, and file lists.
  4. If the screen shows no data or remains offline, first check the serial firmware, Moon2Uart service, and connection configuration.

Differences from the 7-inch Screen

The usage logic for the serial screen of the Fly-WiScreen 5-inch and Fly-WiScreen 7-inch screens is nearly identical. Daily printing, temperature, movement, settings, and power-loss resume processes can share the same instructions. When replacing images, please create resources according to the image specifications for the corresponding screen size page.
