FLY-EDDY
FLY-EDDY is an EDDY bed-mapping (probe) sensor developed based on the Klipper probe_eddy_current module. It uses the TI LDC1612 chip and connects to the toolboard or mainboard via the I2C interface, enabling non-contact high-speed bed mesh scanning and Z-axis probing.
Product Features
- Non-contact probing, no need to repeatedly raise and lower the Z-axis during bed mapping, providing fast probing speed and a high number of points
- Onboard 40MHz crystal oscillator, with a fixed I2C address of
42 - Connects to the toolboard or mainboard via the I2C interface
- Used in conjunction with Klipper's
probe_eddy_currentmodule, supporting drive current calibration and height calibration
Model Differences
FLY-EDDY is available in two models: EDDY-M and EDDY-F. Their electrical interfaces and configurations are completely identical, differing only in physical connection method and compatible platforms. Both use a 5-pin cable: VCC / GND / SDA / SCL / TEMP, where TEMP is the output from the onboard thermistor, used for [temperature_probe] temperature drift compensation:
- EDDY-M (MX1.25 Terminal)
- EDDY-F (FPC Cable)
- Connects using an MX1.25 terminal block
- Includes a 5-pin ribbon cable (single-ended MX1.25, 30cm), providing straightforward wiring and easy installation/removal
- Compatible with standard toolboards or mainboards; wiring and I2C configuration (fixed address
0x42) and the TEMP temperature pin must be set up according to the actual board
- Connects using an FPC (Flexible Flat Cable)
- Includes an FPC cable (5-pin, 0.5mm pitch, same-side contacts, optional 150mm / 200mm length), offering a compact footprint ideal for space-constrained installations
- Specifically compatible with the EDDY interface on SHT36 V3, SB2040 V3, and SB2040 PRO V3 toolboards

Installation Precautions
Before installing the sensor, connecting or disconnecting cables, or organizing wiring, turn off the printer completely and disconnect the power supply. Do not connect or disconnect cables, rearrange connector wiring, or touch terminals while the device is powered on.
- Install with the coil side facing the heated bed
- The coil should be positioned above the nozzle, maintaining a physical height difference of
2~3mmbetween the coil and the nozzle tip, within the recommended range - For multi Z-axis machines, perform a manual leveling first before proceeding with calibration
- If probe configurations such as
eddy,Probe, orBL-Touchhave been previously configured, delete them first to avoid conflicts - It is recommended not to turn on the heated bed during testing and calibration
- The EDDY is an eddy current sensor and is susceptible to temperature-induced drift; perform calibration and probing only after the temperature has stabilized
